Traffic & Ranking Recovery

Find the cause of lost traffic and rankings before acting on it.

Valiance Labs investigates meaningful organic-search declines in established online businesses. We determine whether the decline came from ranking loss, indexation changes, lower click-through rate, weaker search demand, migration issues, or deployment problems before recommending what to do next.

Traffic can fall for very different reasons.

Lower organic traffic does not automatically mean lower rankings. Starting with a content rewrite, backlink campaign, rebuild, migration, or technical checklist before identifying the loss is guesswork.

  • Organic search has historically created meaningful business value

The decline is meaningful because organic search has brought leads, revenue, subscriptions, ad revenue, qualified users, or another valuable business outcome.

  • There is enough history to compare what changed

Search Console and site history can be compared before, during, and after the decline to understand what moved and what changed around it.

  • The team needs evidence before spending on fixes

The useful next step is not another broad SEO score. It is a clear explanation of what changed, what is supported by the data, and what deserves action first.

The same traffic chart can point to very different problems.

Before recommending content, technical, or platform changes, we separate what the data confirms from what it only suggests. That gives the business a clear explanation of the decline and a justified next step.

  1. Ranking loss

Positions actually fell for important queries or page sets.

  2. Visibility or indexation loss

Important pages or sections appear less often in Google, or have disappeared from the index.

  3. Click loss without equivalent ranking loss

Rankings or impressions may remain similar while clicks fall because the search results or query mix changed.

  4. Search-demand loss

Fewer people are searching for the relevant topics, brand, or problem.

  5. Migration or deployment loss

The decline begins after a redesign, migration, or production change.

Start with a Recovery Diagnostic.

Before recommending content, technical, or platform changes, we establish what changed, what the evidence supports, and what deserves action.

What the Diagnostic examines

We connect the traffic change to the pages, queries, technical conditions, and business events most likely to explain it.

  1. Establish what changed

Compare the decline with updates, releases, migrations, and demand shifts.

  2. Investigate the likely cause

Review the affected pages, queries, technical signals, and search results.

  3. Set the next action

State what deserves attention first, and what does not.

From traffic drop to recovery plan

The work moves from evidence to a prioritized response, so the business understands both what happened and what to do next.

  1. Establish the timeline

Identify when the decline began and what changed around it.

  2. Diagnose the loss

Separate ranking, visibility, click, demand, and technical issues.

  3. Prioritize the response

Define the actions most likely to improve performance.

  4. Implement and validate

Carry out the agreed work and monitor what changes afterward.

Common reasons established businesses investigate a traffic decline

An investigation is most useful when the decline is material, the cause is unclear, or several changes happened at once.

  • Traffic fell after a migration or redesign

A major site change was followed by a meaningful decline.

  • The timing overlaps a Google update

The decline needs investigation instead of an assumed explanation.

  • Important pages disappeared from search

A page group or section has lost visibility.

  • Rankings look similar but clicks are down

Search visibility remains, but the click opportunity changed.

  • Organic performance has eroded over time

The decline is gradual and has no obvious single cause.

Recovery Diagnostics start at $1,500, and Recovery Engagements start at $5,000.

Diagnose a Traffic Drop

The Diagnostic is the right first purchase when the cause is unclear. A focused Recovery Diagnostic can begin at $1,500 when the decline has a clear timeline, Google Search Console data is available, and the affected area can be investigated within a defined scope. Larger sites, multiple affected sections, complex migrations, or declines with several plausible causes are scoped accordingly. If the Diagnostic identifies actionable work, Recovery Engagements start at $5,000 and are priced based on the breadth of technical, structural, content, or post-migration remediation required. Recovery timelines depend on the cause, and changes in Google’s systems, search demand, and search-result behavior remain outside the scope of any guarantee.

Good fit

  • +You operate an established U.S. online business where organic search has historically created meaningful business value.
  • +You have experienced a meaningful, sustained decline in organic traffic, rankings, search visibility, or an important page set.
  • +You can provide Google Search Console access, relevant analytics, historical context, and timely input from a decision-maker or internal champion.
  • +You are willing to make justified changes and have a realistic budget for a $1,500 Diagnostic and, if needed, a $5,000+ Recovery Engagement.

Probably not the right fit

  • The site is new and has never established meaningful organic performance, or the issue is a short-term fluctuation with no meaningful business impact.
  • You need local map-pack work, ecommerce SEO, a link-building campaign, paid search, or ongoing generic SEO management.
  • You want guaranteed rankings, a guaranteed recovery date, or a penalty explanation without evidence.
  • You cannot provide Search Console or relevant data, will not make changes, or have no meaningful historical organic-search baseline to investigate.

Questions before you start

The details that most often determine fit, scope, and the right next step.

How much does a Recovery Diagnostic cost?

Recovery Diagnostics start at $1,500. The final scope depends on the site’s size, history, systems, and the complexity of the decline, but the purpose remains fixed: determine what changed, what matters, and what should happen first.

What do we receive from the Recovery Diagnostic?

You receive a concise written diagnosis, a prioritized recovery roadmap, and a review call. The output distinguishes what is confirmed, strongly supported, possible, and not supported, then recommends the next responsible action.

How long does diagnosis and recovery take?

A typical Diagnostic takes 5–10 business days after required access is complete. Complex sites can require 2–3 weeks. Recovery timing depends on the cause: some technical fixes validate quickly, while broader ranking or site-quality changes can take months. No recovery date can be promised in advance.

Can you guarantee our traffic or rankings will return?

No. Search demand, competitors, result layouts, and Google’s reassessment timing are outside Valiance’s control. The work is designed to identify avoidable problems, implement justified improvements, and validate the parts of the recovery process that can be controlled.

What access do you need from our team?

Google Search Console is normally required for a serious Diagnostic. Analytics, site or CMS access where relevant, deployment or migration history, previous SEO work, and business-impact data improve the diagnosis. You need a decision-maker or strong internal champion and timely input from the people who own content, development, data, or integrations. Your whole team does not need to manage the engagement day to day.

What if the decline happened around a core update or Search Console shows a manual action?

Core-update timing is investigated, not assumed to be the cause. A manual action is different: if Search Console shows one, it becomes a direct part of the Diagnostic. In both cases, the next step follows the evidence rather than a standard recovery package.

What if rankings are stable but traffic is down?

That can indicate falling click-through rate, changed SERP features, AI Overviews, demand changes, result packaging, or a shift in query mix. It is exactly why clicks, impressions, rankings, and business value need to be separated before recommending a fix.

Do you implement the fixes, and do we need an ongoing retainer?

Valiance can implement practical technical work, define priorities and briefs for larger content work, or work with your internal team through tickets, acceptance criteria, and QA. A Recovery Engagement is not a mandatory retainer. When a Recovery Engagement includes major remediation, it includes 60 days of focused post-implementation monitoring. Any longer-term support is a separate decision.

Does a traffic decline mean we need to rebuild or migrate the site?

No. A traffic decline is not evidence that a Website Rebuild or Platform Migration is necessary. The correct recommendation may be to leave the platform alone and repair a contained issue. If the diagnosis shows a broader website or platform problem for separate reasons, those services can be discussed in that context.

Tell us when the decline started and what changed around it.

Send the current URL, when the decline began, what changed around that time, and what organic search contributes to the business. We will review whether a Recovery Diagnostic is the right first engagement.
