Squarespace’s WordPress export carries your basic pages and one blog. We move the rest by hand, rebuild the design, redirect every page that ranks or has links, and keep watch on search for 90 days after launch.
Price increases started the conversation for many owners. Control over SEO and content is usually what settles it.

Squarespace sets your URL patterns, templates, and page code. WordPress lets you change all of them.
Squarespace Core now costs $348 a year, and managed WordPress hosting often lands in a similar range, so fees alone rarely justify the move. Owners switch for control over their content, SEO, and design.
Ask us about your siteSquarespace’s export includes basic pages, one blog, and text and image blocks. Embed blocks come across as plain text, and gallery pages export only from older (7.0) sites. Everything else is moved by hand.
| Item | What happens | How we handle it |
|---|---|---|
| Basic pages | Moves, with changes | Text comes across in the export; layouts are rebuilt to match your design. |
| One blog and its posts | Moves unchanged | Exported and imported with dates, categories, and tags. |
| Additional blogs | Moves, with changes | The export only includes one blog. We move the others post by post. |
| Images | Moves, with changes | The export only links to images still stored on Squarespace, so we download and re-host every one. |
| Gallery pages | Moves, with changes | Exported only from 7.0 sites. On newer 7.1 sites, galleries are rebuilt in WordPress. |
| Product, event, and album pages | Rebuilt | Not included in the export. Products can go to WooCommerce; events and albums are rebuilt. |
| Audio, video, and product blocks | Rebuilt | Not exported. Rebuilt or re-embedded on the matching pages. |
| Design, styles, and custom CSS | Rebuilt | Rebuilt in WordPress to match your current design unless you choose a refresh. |
Redirects and URLs
Squarespace creates URLs that a WordPress import won’t recreate. Each one needs a destination.
Posts usually live under your blog page’s slug, such as /blog/post-name. We keep that path or redirect every post.
Squarespace category and tag links (like /blog?category=News) don’t match WordPress’s format, so each gets its own redirect rule.
PDFs and other files you uploaded to Squarespace (links containing /s/) stop working when you cancel. We re-host them and redirect the old links.
These aren’t in the export, so they’re easy to forget when building the redirect map.
If your domain came over from Google Domains, its email settings now live in Squarespace. We move those settings first so email keeps working.
Send your site. We review it and send a quote and timeline within one business day.
We map every old page to its new address, rebuild your templates, and move content, images, and SEO settings on a private preview site you can check.
We compare the old and new sites page by page, point your domain to the new site, tell Google about the new pages, and test each redirect once it’s live.
For 90 days we watch which pages Google indexes and how much traffic your moved pages get. Anything our work caused, we fix at no cost, with reports at 30, 60, and 90 days.

“From” is the starting price for the kind of site described. Prices depend on your site’s size and setup. You get a quote before any work starts, and we don’t bill by the hour.
Nobody can promise rankings after a migration, and we don’t. We commit in writing to the process that protects them.
Every address we find in your sitemap, Search Console, analytics, and backlinks gets a destination: a matching page, the closest match, or a planned removal. You see the full list before launch.
Pages you choose to retire are removed on purpose. If any other old link stops working after launch, we fix it.
We watch which pages Google indexes, any errors it reports, and traffic to your moved pages for 90 days, with a report at 30, 60, and 90 days.
If something we missed or broke causes a problem in those 90 days, we fix it at no cost.
The guarantee covers our work. It doesn’t cover Google algorithm updates, content you change after launch, pages removed at your request, or problems caused by your host, third-party plugins, or other vendors.
If your site is a portfolio or a handful of pages and you’re happy with how it works, the price increase alone isn’t worth a migration. Move when you need things Squarespace won’t do: more than one blog, custom URL structures, deeper SEO control, or a developer working on the site.
Ask if you should stay on SquarespaceCommon questions about moving from Squarespace to WordPress.
You can, but it only covers basic pages, one blog, and text and image blocks, plus gallery pages on older 7.0 sites. Products, events, albums, extra blogs, styles, and your image files need separate work.
Some movement in the first weeks is normal. On Squarespace moves, the links most likely to break are blog posts, uploaded files, and category pages, so we redirect those along with every page we find in your sitemap, Search Console, analytics, and backlinks, then monitor search for 90 days.
By default we rebuild it to match your current design. A design refresh is available as an add-on.
Most Squarespace sites with up to 15 pages and a blog take two to four weeks.
Not until the new site is live, redirects are verified, and every file has been re-hosted. We tell you when it’s safe.
