HTML to WordPress, so anyone on your team can edit the site

If every change to your site means a developer editing files, WordPress lets your team make those edits themselves, and the site still looks the same. We rebuild your pages in WordPress and move your images and files. Then we redirect every .html address and monitor search for 90 days after launch.

Who this HTML to WordPress migration is for

A good fit

  • Hand-coded HTML, Bootstrap, or template sites where every edit needs a developer
  • Sites built years ago on Bootstrap 3 or 4, or old versions of jQuery
  • Small-business and service sites that want a blog or regular updates
  • Sites whose pages rank and can’t afford to lose that traffic

Probably not a fit

  • Simple sites that rarely change and are already fast and secure
  • Web apps with custom logins or databases, which need a different kind of project
  • Sites with no search traffic, where a fresh build is simpler

Why hand-coded sites move to WordPress

Most static sites still work. The problem is the old code underneath them and the time it takes to change anything.

  • Bootstrap 3 and 4 no longer get fixes

Bootstrap 3 stopped getting support on July 24, 2019 and Bootstrap 4 on January 1, 2023. Neither receives updates or security fixes.

  • Old jQuery has known, exploited flaws

jQuery 1.x and 2.x are no longer supported. A flaw in versions before 3.5.0 was added to the US government’s list (CISA) of actively exploited vulnerabilities in January 2025.

  • Every edit needs a developer

About a third of websites (32.1%) use no content management system, so every change means editing code and uploading files.

What moves from HTML to WordPress

Your design is rebuilt as an editable WordPress theme. Content, images, and files move across. Old code is replaced.

What moves from HTML to WordPress
PagesRebuiltRebuilt as editable WordPress pages that match your current design on desktop, tablet, and phone.
Images and PDFsMoves unchangedMoved into the WordPress media library, with old file addresses kept working or redirected.
Contact formsRebuiltOld form scripts and third-party form services are replaced with a WordPress form plugin sending to the same inbox.
Old JavaScript and BootstrapRebuiltReplaced with maintained code, so the site no longer depends on unsupported libraries.
SEO titles and descriptionsMoves unchangedCopied from each page’s HTML into an SEO plugin, page by page.
HostingMoves, with changesThe site moves to WordPress hosting. We plan the switch with your domain and email so your site and email keep working.

Redirects and URLs

Where HTML to WordPress moves lose traffic

Static sites use file names as addresses. WordPress doesn’t, so each one needs a matching redirect.

  • .html addresses

Pages like /about.html become /about/ in WordPress, so each one gets its own permanent (301) redirect.

  • Folder index pages

Addresses like /services/index.html and /services/ both point to the same page. Both versions are redirected to one address.

  • www and https

Older static sites are often reachable with and without www, or over http. We pick one version and redirect the rest.

  • Files linked from other sites

PDFs and images that other sites link to keep their addresses or get individual redirects.

  • Pages nobody links to anymore

Old pages still on the server but missing from the menus are found through Search Console, analytics, and backlinks, then kept or redirected.

How a HTML to WordPress migration works, step by step

  1. 01

    Quote

Send your site. We review it and send a quote and timeline within one business day.

  2. 02

    Build

We map every old page to its new address, rebuild your templates, and move content, images, and SEO on a private preview site you can check.

  3. 03

    Launch

We compare the old and new sites page by page, point your domain to the new site, tell Google about the new pages, and test each redirect once it’s live.

  4. 04

    Monitor

For 90 days we watch which pages Google indexes and how much traffic your moved pages get. Anything our work caused, we fix at no cost, with reports at 30, 60, and 90 days.

What we guarantee, and what we can’t

No one can promise how Google will rank your site after a move, including us. What we can promise is the work that protects your rankings, done carefully and put in writing.

Ask us about the guarantee

What no one can promise

Google decides rankings, not us. Even a careful migration can cause some movement while Google recrawls the new site and works out what changed, and it can take a few weeks to settle.

Google also changes how it ranks sites throughout the year. If an update shifts your traffic, that isn’t something any migration team controls. Anyone who guarantees your rankings is promising something they can’t deliver.

What we do promise

We take every precaution we know of, and we stay accountable after launch.

  • Every page we can find gets a new home. We collect old addresses from your sitemap, Google Search Console, analytics, and links from other sites. Each one gets a destination: the matching page, the closest match, or a removal you’ve agreed to. You see the full list before launch.

  • Nothing is removed by accident. Pages you choose to retire are removed on purpose. If any other old link stops working after launch, we fix it.

  • We watch for 90 days. After launch we track which pages Google indexes, any errors it reports, and traffic to the pages we moved, and we send you a report at 30, 60, and 90 days.

  • If it’s our mistake, we fix it for free. If something we missed or broke causes a problem in those 90 days, we fix it at no cost.

What it doesn’t cover

The guarantee covers our work. It doesn’t cover Google algorithm updates, content you change after launch, pages removed at your request, or problems caused by your host, third-party plugins, or other vendors.

When you should keep your HTML site

If the site rarely changes, loads fast, and runs on current, supported code, there may be no reason to move. If outdated code (like old Bootstrap or jQuery) is the only problem, updating it may cost less than a move, and we’ll say so.

HTML to WordPress questions

Common questions about moving from HTML to WordPress. If yours isn’t here, send us your site and ask. You’ll hear back within one business day.

Get a migration quote
Will the site look the same?

Yes, as closely as we can. We rebuild your current design as a WordPress theme, so visitors see the same site and your team gets an editor.

Will our URLs change?

Yes, because WordPress doesn’t use .html addresses. Every old address gets its own redirect before launch.

Do we need to know WordPress?

No. We set up the editor so you can change text, images, and pages without touching code, and walk you through it at launch.

What happens to our contact form?

It’s rebuilt with a WordPress form plugin and sends to the same inbox. We test it before launch.

Will we lose our Google rankings?

Lasting losses usually come from missed .html pages and files, which we map before launch. Expect some movement while Google recrawls. We monitor search for 90 days and fix anything our work caused at no charge. No one can promise rankings, but our guarantee covers our work.

How long does it take?

Most sites with up to 15 pages take two to four weeks.
