Who this Squarespace to Shopify migration is for

A good fit

  • Squarespace stores that have outgrown its commerce tools
  • Brands that want more payment, shipping, and app options
  • Stores with a blog or product pages that bring in organic traffic
  • Owners rethinking their plan after Squarespace’s 2026 price increases

Probably not a fit

  • Portfolio or service sites that sell only a few items, where Squarespace’s store is enough
  • Sites with no store at all, where our Squarespace to WordPress migration fits better
  • Stores with so little traffic that rebuilding on Shopify from scratch is simpler

Why Squarespace stores move to Shopify

Squarespace is built for great-looking sites with a store attached. Stores that grow tend to want a platform built around selling.

  • Price increases of up to 26%

In mid-2026 Squarespace raised US prices on three of its four plans. Core went from $23 to $29 a month and Plus from $39 to $49, billed annually.

  • The store doesn’t come with you

Squarespace’s site export skips store pages and product listings, so the store has to be moved separately from the rest of the site.

  • Fewer ways to take payment

Squarespace checkout runs on Squarespace Payments, Stripe, and PayPal. Shopify supports its own payments plus many third-party providers.

What moves from Squarespace to Shopify

Products move from Squarespace’s product export. Customers and orders need extra steps. Pages are rebuilt in your Shopify theme.

Redirects and URLs

Where Squarespace to Shopify moves lose traffic

Shopify sets its own address formats, so product, category, and blog addresses all change.

  • Product URLs

Squarespace products live under your store page’s address. Shopify uses /products/, so each product gets its own permanent (301) redirect. We confirm your exact format when we plan your move.

  • Category pages

Store categories map to Shopify collections, each with its own redirect.

  • Blog posts

Shopify puts posts under /blogs/, so every post gets a redirect from its old address.

  • Images and files

Images and PDFs hosted on Squarespace are moved before you cancel, and their old addresses redirected.

  • Shopify’s redirect limits

Shopify allows up to 100,000 redirects, and each one only starts working once the old page is gone, so we build and test the full list before launch.

What we guarantee, and what we can’t

No one can promise how Google will rank your site after a move, including us. What we can promise is the work that protects your rankings, done carefully and put in writing.

Ask us about the guarantee

What no one can promise

Google decides rankings, not us. Even a careful migration can cause some movement while Google recrawls the new site and works out what changed, and it can take a few weeks to settle.

Google also changes how it ranks sites throughout the year. If an update shifts your traffic, that isn’t something any migration team controls. Anyone who guarantees your rankings is promising something they can’t deliver.

What we do promise

We take every precaution we know of, and we stay accountable after launch.

  • Every page we can find gets a new home. We collect old addresses from your sitemap, Google Search Console, analytics, and links from other sites. Each one gets a destination: the matching page, the closest match, or a removal you’ve agreed to. You see the full list before launch.

  • Nothing is removed by accident. Pages you choose to retire are removed on purpose. If any other old link stops working after launch, we fix it.

  • We watch for 90 days. After launch we track which pages Google indexes, any errors it reports, and traffic to the pages we moved, and we send you a report at 30, 60, and 90 days.

  • If it’s our mistake, we fix it for free. If something we missed or broke causes a problem in those 90 days, we fix it at no cost.

What it doesn’t cover

The guarantee covers our work. It doesn’t cover Google algorithm updates, content you change after launch, pages removed at your request, or problems caused by your host, third-party plugins, or other vendors.

When you should stay on Squarespace

If the store is a small part of a design-led site and sells a few products, Squarespace’s commerce features may be all you need. If you’re leaving Squarespace for more control rather than for selling, our Squarespace to WordPress migration is the better fit.

Get a migration quote
Can’t we use Shopify’s free import tool?

Shopify’s Store Migration app doesn’t list Squarespace as a source, so products, customers, and orders move with exports and migration apps instead.

Do customers need new passwords?

No. Passwords can’t be moved to Shopify, but Shopify customer accounts sign in with an email and a one-time code, so customers can sign in from day one.

Will our URLs change?

Yes. Shopify uses /products/, /collections/, and /blogs/, so every product, category, and post gets its own redirect before launch.

How many products can you move?

Any size. The starting price covers up to 250 products and 25 pages. Larger catalogs are quoted after we review the store.

Will the site look the same?

We rebuild it to match the live site with your Shopify theme. A redesign is available, but changing the design and platform together makes it harder to tell what caused any change in traffic.

How long does it take?

Most stores with up to 250 products take three to six weeks.
